UWW10X was new in March 1982 to WYPTE as fleet number 5010. It was part of a batch which were on a lease arrangement, upon formation of Yorkshire Rider Ltd it was decided they did not want to carry on with the cost of leasing these buses and many of them were returned to the dealer and sold on for further use with alternative companies.
On 31/03/1987, 5010 was sold to Southern National and became fleet number 510 and adopted an NBC style green and white livery and later a green and cream livery similar to that of Southdown.
In March 1996, 5010 was again sold this time to Isle of Man Transport and registered MAN-80-N and painted in a smart Red and Cream livery. By July 2001, 5010 was again sold this time to EnsignBus dealer in Purfleet, Essex and reverted back to original registration of UWW10X. 5010 passed to Confidence of Leicester where she remained in active service until August 2018 when purchased for preservation by a member of Bromley Bus Group.
Our aim is to restore 5010 into the livery of Cambridge operator, Cambus where WYPTE 5003, 5004 & 5008 worked. Due to these vehicles being unavailable to purchase for preservation it was decided that with 5010 being of the same batch, it should represent those identical which did work for Cambus, filling a gap in the Cambridgeshire preservation scene. There is not yet a vehicle preserved in the once familiar Cambus two-tone Blue & Cream livery so this once restored would compliment our Viscount Olympian, F509NJE.
