Brand new in March 1990, G470 LVG is an 11-metre Plaxton Paramount 3200 C70F bodied Dennis Javelin and - along with sister vehicle G469 LVG, new in March 1989 - were both brand new to Great Yarmouth based coach operator Caroline Seagull as 53 seaters and, whilst 469 left Caroline Seagull Coaches for 10 years of service with Smiths Coaches of Blofield, Norwich, then Norfolk Coachways, 470 meanwhile, decided to stick with Caroline Seagull coaches until the very end when they went into voluntary liquidation back in March 2008.
This voluntary closure of the company came about as they were, like many other companies, under ever increasing more and more pressure to keep their company afloat, in business and competitive under ever increasing “crippling" fuel costs and, inevitably, Manager Mark Buckle, along with his dad and co-director Jeffery Buckle, decided enough was enough and auctioned off everything possible. In turn, managing to sell 470 to fellow Great Yarmouth Coach Operator, Swift Taxis, where she stayed for another 4 and a half years - taking the total service life, purely based from a Great Yarmouth based Operator and Depot, to 22 and a half years.
In the October School Holidays of 2012, it was decided to withdraw 470 from service as due to it’s age and condition as well as no longer requiring a 70 seater, was withdrawn and laid up at their premises on Southdown Road, Great Yarmouth, with a spares or repair sale in place.
Terry Wilkins purchased 470 from Swift Taxis for their asking price of £1,500 and, because the intended place to park and store it - The Hopton Timber Estate - was within a good area from them and their Southtown Storage Yard, they agreed to deliver it there for free.
It was kept it there along with GEX740F, until early 2013, with no problems. Eventually both vehicles sadly became subject to mindless vandalism and with the expanding collection of the nearby car breakers, both vehicles became penned in. In August 2020 plans were made to recover both vehicles back to Guyhirn for restoration and by September both were safely on site. Substantial finance has already been sent to start restoration.
