This Bristol VR has been residing in Mundlesey,  North Norfolk since December 2003, after being exchanged with Ben Jordan (breaker) for a Bedford Plaxton Supreme.

29 was new to Great Yarmouth Corporation in February 1979. It worked solely from Caister Road, Great Yarmouth, from February 1979 - firstly for Great Yarmouth Corporation, which then changed in 1986 to Great Yarmouth Transport “BLUE BUSES”. In September 1996, First Eastern Counties took over operations of Great Yarmouth Transport with 29 becoming First Blue Bus branded and renumbered 329.

29 went to Ben Jordan’s of Coltishall a breakers in March 2002 and the story should have ended there... but there was a twist! In December 2003, it went to spend its retirement in the garden of Mick & Judy Peters in Mundlsey where they used it to spend time with eachother, family  and friends whilst enjoying panoramic views of the sea over food and beverage.

In June 2020 a team of E.B.E. members set out on an expedition to see if the VR was still on site, and it was!
After making contact with the owners an inspection took place, followed by negotiations in August. On 6th September the same year we set out to recover 29 and delivered S633MKH, a Volvo Olympian new to East Yorkshire, to take the place of the VR.

Our eventual plans will be to restore 29 back to Great Yarmouth Transport blue with cream relief stripes livery with the “BLUE BUSES” strap lines that were worn in the 1980s/90s, which is very much at the heart of Jamie's first memories of holidaying in Great Yarmouth.
